In this issue:
Tues. Nov. 8, 7:00 - Board Meeting at the Hangar or Birdcage Lounge
Sun. Dec. 4, 5:30 - Holiday Party at Atlantis in Livonia
The four elected offices, President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer, are up for election for 2006. The vote will be cast at the holiday party on December 4th. From now until then, nominations are open. You can nominate yourself, or you can nominate someone else. Contact any Board member if you would like to submit a nomination.
The Garmin 430 manual is missing from the Archer. If anyone has "borrowed" it from the hangar, please return it to the Archer.
The starter in the Warrior is sticking and sometimes wont engage. We will try to hold off addressing this issue until the annual. In the meantime, the starter can usually be made to work by letting the starter come to a stop and trying again. Eventually it will engage. Do not try to lubricate this part! Ordinary lubrication will gum up the works. Only silicone spray should be used on this part. Leave this for the maintenance officers to work on.
The Cessna turn and bank indicator has been repaired.
Someone mentioned at a plane wash that they could do some cowling painting, but no one remembers who that person was. If you are that person, then please contact Paul Fortino.
When you use Jet Center self-serve for fuel, please remember to pick up the printed receipt from the machine and place it in the box on the wall next to the Warrior, which is labelled for this purpose. Without these receipts, our Club Treasurer has no way to check that the bills from Jet Center are correct. Please write 33149, 43755, or 54115 on the receipt that comes out of the machine so we know which plane the fuel should be charged to. Because Jet Center is not separating the charges by airplane, we have no other way to get this info. That is why our Treasurer reports $3,086.58 as "Fuel Expense - Other" on the most recent Profit and Loss statement. If Jet Center does not improve their accounting, we may be forced to remove the self-serve cards from the airplanes. If that happens, then members will have to use their own personal credit cards to pay for fuel, and then submit receipts for reimbursement.
Remember, we also have an account with Active Aero, and they deliver right to the hangar, and they are usually cheaper, so give them a try.
As we promised several months ago, the MANG Aero Constitution, Regulations, and By-Laws are available on-line at www.mangaero.org in the form of PDF files.
The plans for the Holiday Party on Dec. 4th have been finalized. We will be returning to Atlantis in Livonia for a dinner, so mark your calendar.
Courtesy Needed in Plane Scheduling
If you schedule a plane for more than a day, then you are expected to fly at lest two hours for each day the plane is out. If the planes do not fly enough hours, then we will have higher maintenance costs and lower Club income, which can only be made up by raising rates. Please help your fellow members keep the flying hours up by reserving only the time that you need. Last-minute schedule changes to disguise over-scheduling are not invisible to the membership, who examine the schedule frequently.
After nine years as a member of MANG Aero Club, Ken Dobson will be resigning from the club as of the end of October. MANG Aero Club would like to take this opportunity to thank Ken for his years of service while being a member of MANG. The Club is truly going to miss him. We wish Ken a fond farewell and our best to him always.
Ken has retired from his everyday job and is heading West to the Golden State of California. Ken has stated in his resignation notice, "My tenure with the Club has been very enjoyable and beneficial. I wish the Club and its members nothing but the best." Ken plans to continue flying upon his arrival in sunny California.
