Sun. Dec. 4, 5:30 - Holiday Party at Atlantis in Livonia
Events in 2006:
Saturday plane washes will be scheduled for 9 AM to 1 PM instead of all day as before. This should allow members more use of the planes on plane-wash days.
The following nominations have been received for the elected offices for 2006:
President: Steve Thornburg
Vice-President: Dino Dinatale, John Keck
Secretary: Bob Scott
Treasurer: Joe McEvoy
Dave LaPointe declined the nomination for President, so his name is not on the ballot. Thank you, Dave, for your years of service. You deserve a rest.
Nominations still remain open right up until the day of the Holiday Party, December 4th, on which the votes will be cast. You can nominate yourself, or someone else. Contact any Board member if you would like to submit a nomination.
We bid farewell to John Colburn who is leaving the Club. We also welcome new member Dan Taylor.
Please keep Alan Hickman's sister in your prayers. She has been diagnosed with cancer.
Archer: The COM2 radio is out for repairs. A loaner currently taking its place.
Archer: A Service Bulletin covering our fuel pump means that it should be replaced. This will be done during the next annual.
Warrior: A cylinder has been replaced. The old one had zero compression and was cracked.
C172: The COM2 radio has been sent to NARCO for repairs for transmit problems. Nothing is currently taking its place, but we are looking into getting a temporary COM2 because the NARCO service is extremely slow.
Minutes for the Board Meetings have always been available to members on request. In addition, we will start keeping the most recent minutes in a folder in the MANG Office at the hangars. If you want to see the minutes, just take a look in the office. Better yet, stop by and attend a Board Meeting. They are open to all members; they are generally friendly; and we generally have one or two general members at each meeting. These meetings last about 1.5 hours. They are a great way of learning more about your Club and how it works and what is going on.
RSVPs Needed for Holiday Party, Dec 4th
Dave LaPointe needs to hear from you as soon as possible regarding whether you want to attend the MANG Holiday Party on Dec. 4th at Atlantis restarant in Livonia. Even if you are not coming, e-mail Dave to tell him that, since it will help in planning. You can e-mail Dave at jmldgl30@aol.com or call him at (734) 453-3712. The deadline for making your reservation is Monday, November 28, 2005.
AvFlight (Jet Center) Fuel Cards
We need to take more care of the self-service AvFlight fuel cards that we have been keeping in the flight log binder for each plane. They are easily damaged, and when placed in a pocket, they can easily fall out and get lost. We will shortly get a zippered three-hole pencil case for each binder and keep the card in there. Please remember to return the cards to the pouch after use. And don't forget to save the printed receipt and place it in the "Fuel Receipts" box in the Warrior hangar.
MANG Answers AOPA Call to Protest Washington TFR
As reported by the AOPA Pilot magazine and others, the FAA is planning on making the TFR around Washington DC a permanent fixture, making a wide area around Washington very difficult if not impossible for General Aviation, and private pilots in particular. As suggested by AOPA, MANG Aero Club has sent a letter opposing this FAA action to the Senators from Michigan and others.
