First MANG General Membership Meeting of the Year
On March 21, the first General Membership Meeting of the year will be held at Plymouth Library. This is a Monday, which is unusual for us. Please mark your calendars. In addition to the usual meeting discussions, Dion Zammit will give us a presentation on Angel Flights. This is a program whereby pilots volunteer to transport people in need for medical appointments. Lets all turn out to show our interest in our club.
By the way, you don't need to limit yourself to General Membership Meetings. All members are also welcome to attend any of the Board Meetings listed above in the Calendar of Events. We always have one or two non-Board members show up. It is a great way to find out more about how your club works.
Courtesy, Please! (in scheduling)
You know how frustrating it is to find that all the planes are scheduled on a day you really wanted to go flying. Imagine, then, how you would feel if you happened to stop by at the hangar and find that one or more planes were sitting there doing nothing even though they were scheduled! Please show your fellow club members courtesy by cancelling your reservation as soon as you know that you will not be using it. It is easy to do, either by the Internet, or using the telephone. Furthermore, if you have the plane scheduled for all day, and then only fly for a few hours in the morning, please cancel the rest of your schedule as soon as you get back so that others may have a chance at the afternoon.
Our hangar doors are the type that unlock whenever you turn the key to open them. So when you leave, please remember to lock the doors by turning the button on the inside and pushing it in before you close the door. It is also a good idea to double-check that you have your keys on you before pulling the door shut, as one of our members recently discovered.
MANG Aero will be hosting an MDOT Safety Seminar on April 21 at the Plymouth Library. The topic will be "Aeronautical Charts".
The report on the Archer annual was sent out to all members by e-mail. In addition there are these items:
C172 - flaps switch was unreliable at 10 degrees of flaps (bad switch).
C172 - turn and bank indicator is grinding and needs to be overhauled.
C172 - wet compass has been reported as bad.
C172 - there is still a sporadic vacuum leak.
Warrior - wet compass also reported as having excessive errors.
Archer - electric trim switch was wired backwards.
Paul Fortino recommends that we consider replacing any bad compasses with a vertical card compass.
