Plane Washes are scheduled to reserve the planes from 9 AM to 1 PM. This should allow members convenient use of the planes on plane-wash days.
The Board has recommended that we amend our constitution to raise the membership limit from the present 53 to 55. This will bring in an additional $1320 per year in dues. Because of the continuing downward trend in flying hours, as described in last month's newsletter, we have plenty of aircraft availability to support two more members. An amendment to the constitution requires a 2/3 vote in favor of the change. Since we cannot count on a large turnout at a General Membership Meeting, we will be conducting this vote by mail. A non-response counts as a "yes" vote.
Operations: Archer hangar door problem
Several members report that the left cable on the Archer hangar door is frayed and the door does not work well. The Anglins have been notified several time, but nothing has been done. Until this is resolved, all members are advised to be extra careful in operating the hangar door for the Archer. Watch for hang-ups and use the assistance of a second person in guiding the door if necessary.
We had two openings and one of those has just been filled by Jon Gould.

The Archer annual is done. New carpeting has been installed, as well as new points, and new bolts in the landing gear. the flaps have been re-rigged.
The Cessna annual is underway. We discovered that three of the four cylinders are covered by a new Advisory Directive. According to that AD, the cylinders must be replaced within 60 hours. Paul Fortino suggested that it would be risky to return the Cessna to service without replacing the cylinders now. This may extend the downtime of the Cessna beyond the time currently reserved for the annual.
Please do not park your car in the hangar during the winter. The salt from the streets drips onto our nice clean floors and degrades the concrete. Instead, park at the end of the row of hangars, in front of the hangar door, or at the west end of the birdcage area, leaving enough room for planes and other cars to get by.
