Plane Washes are scheduled to reserve the planes from 9 AM to 1 PM. This should allow members convenient use of the planes on plane-wash days.
The current membership limit of 53 members is in the Club By-Laws, not the Constitution, as was incorrectly reported in the last newsletter. Therefore the proposed change to raise the limit to 55 members requires only a simple majority vote of the members present at a General Membership Meeting. At the recent General Membership Meeting at the Plymouth Library, a motion was passed to extend this vote to all members, including the ones who were not at the meeting. Ballots were sent out to all members who were not at the meeting. If you were not at the meeting and you do not receive a ballot in the mail in then next few days, contact Bob Scott, MANG Secretary. Ballots are due April 8th.
We have full membership (53) and no one on the waiting list. If you know someone who is looking for safe, affordable flying, have that person get in touch with Dino Dinatale.
Alan Hickman, our long-time Safety/Training Officer has decided to leave MANG Aero Club. We thank him for his years of service and wish him well. The Board will be making an appointment for the Safety/Training Officer position at the next Board Meeting. In the meantime, if you have any documents to update (like a Medical or a Flight Review) send them to Dino Dinatale.
Dale Thorsby, our Operations Officer, is temporarily unavailable due to an emergency appendectomy. Get well soon, Dale!
Please remember that it is MANG policy to fill the fuel tanks after your flight if the total cumulative flying time since full tanks is more than 1.5 hours. This means that even if you fly only 0.4 hours, if your flight puts the total flying time since the tanks were filled to more than 1.5 hours, then you are responsible for filling the tanks.
Fueling at Willow Run is currently a little harder than previously. The self-service pumps at what was Jet Center East are currently closed. This leaves two choices. You can call Active Aero by radio or by cell phone and have them bring their truck to the hangar, or you can taxi to the west side of the field where MANG also has an account. Save all fuel receipts either in the zippered pocket the aircraft binder, or in the drop box in the Warrior hangar.
At our last General Membership Meeting, the featured speaker was Mr. Sean Brosnan, the director of Willow Run Airport. He gave an interesting presentation about the Master Plan for expansion at Willow Run and discussed the role of General Aviation in Willow Run's future. He also mentioned that there is a monthly Willow Run tenants meeting, open to all users of Willow Run. If you would like information on this meeting, you are invited to e-mail Mr. Brosnan at sean.brosnan@wcaa.us and he will forward the information to you.
Operations: Archer hangar door problem
It has been reported that the hangar door for the Archer is still hanging up. Anglin will be notified once more. In the meantime, some members suggested that you let the door down as far as it will go, and then push from the outside to latch it closed.
All annuals are done. The Cessna took a little longer than expected because of difficulties replacing three of the four cylinders.
