Thunder Over Michigan - Enjoy it from MANG Hangars
July 7th and 8th (Saturday and Sunday) the Thunder Over Michigan Airshow will be at Willow Run. Supposedly the parking lot attendants will let you pass without paying if you tell them that you are parking at your own hanger, and come to the MANG hangars. The propane grill will be available for anyone who wants to use it. Bring your own fixings. The event is a fundraiser for the Yankee Air Force to help rebuild the museum, after the fire they had several years ago. If you intend to just stay at the hangar and enjoy a barbecue, that's fine. But if you do intend to walk onto the field and view the static displays, then it would be fitting to pay for both the shown and the parking, even if you are parking at MANG. Since the event is a fundraiser, the parking is part of their needed revenue to put the show on. It is well worth the price.
As posted here in the Newsletter, the members present at the June 16th General Membership Meeting and Plane Wash voted to adopt the changes to the By-Laws and Regulations regarding member liability. See the May Newsletter for details of the changes.
Paul Plumley pointed out at the June 16th meeting that the next Plane Wash was scheduled to conflict with the Oshkosh EAA Convention. It was tentatively decided to move that Plane Wash to Saturday, August 4th.
Flying to Oshkosh? Consider Taking a Buddy.
If you are considering flying to Oshkosh this year with three empty seats, then look around for other MANG members to fill those seats. Having another MANG pilot along can help with the flying workload, and the other pilot can share the expenses. Plus you will get to know other members of our Club. If you haven't signed up yet, but want to go, then look at Schedulemaster and see who is signed up. If you see someone signed up for several days around the Oshkosh time period, then chances are that's where they are going. You can contact any member by e-mail using Schedulemaster to lookup their e-mail address.
