In this issue:
Monday, November 17th 6:00 PM Board Meeting @ Birdcage Lounge
Friday, December 5th 6:00 PM Holiday Party @ Ernesto's
We have had three resignations this month: Carter Billiu, James Snyder, and Jon Gould. Fortunately we had three people on the waiting list, who will now be able to join the Club. If you know of someone who would like to fly, let them know about our Club. It really is the best deal around!
MANG Elections. Should You Run?
Did you know that your dues are paying for $11,520 per year in terms of flight time credits for all the Club officers? Some of those flight time credits could be yours if you become an officer in the Club. Find out how by reading this Club document. Nominations for the four elected positions are being accepted up until the November Board Meeting. You can nominate yourself. In addition we have six appointed officers who also get flight time credits. If you would like to serve in one of those capacities, make your wishes known to the Board. If any of these prospects look inviting, then come to the November Board Meeting to find out more. Attendance at Board meetings is expected for all officers, elected or appointed.
The officers for President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer will be elected at the MANG Holiday Party in December (see next item). In addition to those four elected officers, there are the officers that will be appointed by the new Board in January: Safety/Training, Chief Maintenance, Archer Maintenance, Cessna Maintenance, Warrior Maintenance, and Operations.
The Holiday Party will be at Ernesto's in Plymouth. This is the same place where we were two years ago, but this time we have a larger room. We will have a choice of three entrées. The meal will be billed to your MANG account. There will drawings for door prizes which include Sporty's gift certificates and flying time and others. The only club business will be the election of officers. Mark your calendars now for Friday, Dec. 5th.
Don't leave, but if you have to...
We want all of you to continue to enjoy being members of MANG Aero Club for many years to come. But if you do have to leave the Club, Article III of the Club By-Laws describes the procedure. Basically what is needed is a letter addressed to the Secretary or Treasurer stating your intention, and the return of your hangar and aircraft keys and your gate ID badge. Upon receipt of these things, you will be given a refund of the portion of your equity to which you are entitled, based on the length of time you have been a member, minus any outstanding Club fees.
New Engine Coming for the Archer
The decision was made at the Board Meeting to proceed with getting a new engine for the Archer, based on the number of hours on the existing engine. The replacement will be done during the annual inspection this winter.
Fuel Surcharge Remains at $14/hr
As determined by current fuel prices, according to the formula we reported in the May newsletter, the Fuel Surcharge for the month of October will be $14/hr. Therefore the total charge for flying hours in November will be:

$75 + $14 surcharge = $89 / hour |
Archer: |
$80 + $14 surcharge = $94 / hour |
