Dr. Gordon to Speak at March General Membership Meeting
As shown in the calendar above, we will hold our first General Membership Meeting of the year on Monday, March 23rd at the Plymouth Library. The meeting starts at 6:00 PM. After a short MANG business meeting, we will hear from Dr. Gordon, who many of you see for your aviation medical exams. He will be speaking on one or more topics related to aviation medicals, followed by a question and answer session. He has spoken to our group before, and the talks have always been interesting.
We still have four openings in the Club, so keep talking up the Club to any flying friends you may have.
ATC Tour Planning is Proceeding
About 29 people have applied to go on an ATC tour at Detroit Metro. Detroit Metro is now in the process of giving us some dates and times for 3 to 5 people at a time. Contact Safety/Training Officer John Keck for more information.
Many members are not filling out the fuel information in the time sheets. This information serves several important purposes, so please fill it in. When you use the pumps here at Willow Run, enter the number of gallons shown on the pump. Also enter "USA Jet" for the location. If you buy fuel at some other airport, write down the number of gallons and the airport identifier for the location.
The annuals for the Warrior and the Archer are finished and everything went smoothly. The Archer has a new engine. The Cessna will be done in March. We are seeing a payoff from all the upgrades we have done recently in the avionics, etc. Less stuff needs fixing at the annuals.
If you look at your Willow Run ID badge, you will see an expiration date. This date is supposed to be the month of your next birthday. For some of us, our badges will be expiring very soon. We have been trying to find out what the procedure will be for renewing the badges, but the Willow Run Operations Office has not yet finalized the procedure. They have told us that the period for the renewals will be a full two years, so that at least is some good news. But be prepared for what might be another round of applications, getting signatures, and going down to the Operations Office. We will let everyone know what we find out on this issue as soon as we can.
Fuel Surcharge Falls to $5/hr for February and March
Even though we said before that the fuel surcharge would be $5/hr for February, new lower pump prices have allowed us to lower the surcharge to $3/hr, retroactive to all of February and continuing into March. Therefore the charges for flying hours for February and March are:
Cessna and Warrior: |
$75 + $3 surcharge = $78 / hour |
Archer: |
$80 + $3 surcharge = $83 / hour |
Here are the statistics for 2009, and for January:
(Total HOURS) |

43755 |
33149 |
All Aircraft |
January 2009: |
