About 30 people attended one of the four ATC tours at Metro last week. Ken Larson, who recently retired from the Metro Radar Controllers, on his own time conducted the tours of the radar room and the control tower at Metro. As one of the attendees, this Club Secretary was thoroughly impressed. If you see Ken, give him a big thanks for all his efforts.
Paul Fortino noticed that the Cessna has several flat spots on the fairly new main gear tires. This is a good time to remind everyone that flat spots are produced when you touch down with the brakes engaged. Please remember to stay off the brakes during touchdown. This may be an unconscious result of letting your feet get too high on the pedals when using the rudder. Either make sure you are pressing with your heels, or else make sure the ball of your foot is pressing at the bottom of the pedal. Watch it next time you land to see if you are one of the flat spot makers. With our long runways at Willow, there is no need to apply brakes when landing.
Weight and Balance Spreadsheets
Dave Schrader has created some Excel spreadsheet programs for calculating Weight and Balance for our three planes. It also displays a nice graph. If you would like to try it out, see our main webpage.
MANG Financial Statements On-line
As part of his regular Treasurer's Report to the Board, Joe McEvoy has been providing accounting report printouts. These reports are now available as PDF files from our main webpage. They include the Profit and Loss statement for the last month and year to date, as well as the Balance Sheet. If you want to see how your Club is doing financially, take a look.
After some recent damage and repair to the Warrior wingtip, the wingtip was in need of repainting. Thankfully, Mark Calbus volunteered to get it painted professionally so that it matches the color of the rest of the wing very well. Thanks, Mark, for a really neat job.
