December 2, Friday, 6:00 PM Holiday Party & General Membership Mtg. TBD
The annual MANG Aero Club Holiday Party and election of Officers took place on December 3rd at DeLucas Restaurant. Counting guests there were 37 present. To see pictures, click on 2010Pic1 and 2010Pic2, or click here to see the cake. After a delicious meal, there was a brief General Membership Meeting.
1. First on the agenda was the postponed vote on the bylaw change to Officer Compensation. Partly due to the withdrawl of support from its main sponsor (yours truly), the motion was defeated, and Officer Compensation will remain as it was.
2. Next President Robb Butts gave an report on the situation regarding the opportunity to buy Bill Wallo's Archer. The pros and cons were discussed by the membership. Mark Calbus made the point that we should not proceed without more firm numbers regarding what we could get for one of our planes and what Mr. Wallo would really accept. We might find ourselves stuck with a large bridge loan and four airplanes and not being able to unload one of our older planes. Dan Wadowski moved that the question of buying this plane be tabled pending further study and addressing the questions raised by Mark Calbus. The motion passed. Nor did there appear to be any support for the idea of placing one of our planes up for sale right now. So it does not look like we will be buying an airplane any time soon. Robb Butts pointed out that in today's economy, planes are not selling very quickly, and Mr. Wallo's Archer might still be available in the Spring when we might take a new look at the question.
3. There not being any other nominees for the Offices, the current President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer were re-elected for the coming year. This Board will consider the appointment of the other Board positions in their January meeting, which you will notice is going to be at 7:00 PM rather than 6:00, so it should be easier for members to attend.
