Oil Dipsticks are being Over-Tightened
Some members are way over-tightening the oil dipsticks when they check the oil. Please do not do this. If the dipstick gets too tight, then it is possible that the entire oil filler tube will unscrew from the engine the next time someone tries to loosen the dipstick. You only need to tighten the dipstick to the point where it just starts to offer resistance, and a tiny bit more after that.
We have a new first-aid kit mounted next to the door to the MANG office by the Warrior hangar. It has bandages, OTC medications, and other items that might come in handy in the event of a mishap around the hangars. Take a look at it the next time you are at the hangars so you will know what is available if the need should arise.

These flying hour credits are figured based on the most expensive aircraft (the Archer, $85/hr) and converted to dollars. Then these dollar amounts are used to offset actual flying done by the Officers. At the June Plane Wash and General Membership Meeting, a vote will be held on a proposal to change the way the credits are figured so that the hours are based on the least expensive aircraft (the Cessna and the Warrior, $80/hr). This will have the effect of reducing the Club expense for Officer flying hour credits from the current level of $1020 per month down to $960 per month, for a savings of $60 per month. Please come and offer your input, either for or against this proposal. MANG By-Laws can only be changed by a vote of the General Membership.
Presumeably you all have gotten a notice from the FAA regarding upcoming public meetings over proposed modifications to Detroit Class B Airspace. None of us on the Board have heard what the proposed changes may be and what their effect on General Aviation might be. But the notice invites comments from all interested parties, so if you have something to say about Detroit Class B Airspace and want to go, please do. Note that if you want to speak at these meetings, you have to register in advance.
Joe McEvoy has provided the following reports, which can also be viewed from the MANG homepage:
