Hangar Doors are working again

As reported by Robb Butts earlier this month, the hangar door for the Cessna had failed. The Cessna was temporarily moved to another hangar until the door could be fixed. Well, it is fixed now and everything is back to normal. However this is a reminder that we should be on the lookout for hangar door faults before they become catastrophic. Anglin Aviation is pretty good about fixing things to go wrong at the hangar. But they can't fix it unless they are notified. So if you see a hangar door that operates as if something is seriously out of adjustment, or otherwise about to fail, then please contact a maintenance officer or call Anglin Aviation yourself.

Updated MANG Website

Now that our website has been updated, there are several new features that you may find to be beneficial.

If you have any comments or suggestions to improve the website, send an email to Bob Scott or Chris Willemsen.

Another Call for Nominations

Just another reminder that if anyone wants to run for President, Vice-President, Secretary, or Treasurer of MANG Aero Club. There are perks, both tangible and intangible. So give it some thought. The election will be held at the holiday party at DeLucas on December 2nd.

Maintenance Corner

"Next Oil Change Due" - Do you notice words to this effect on the chalkboard when you take out a plane? You should. It is for you. Part of your pre-flight inspection is to compare the tach hours reading in the plane with the stated time for the next oil change. If the current tach hours reading is within 5 hours of the next oil change due time, then you should contact a maintenance officer to let them know before the time is up. The maintenance officer for the plane tries to keep track of when an oil change is due. But they do not always come out to the airport every day to read the tach. So make it a point to check for a needed oil change before and after each flight.

And speaking of oil, it was decided at the last Board meeting to begin using a multi-visosity (20/50 weight) oil year round, instead of our current practice of switching between summer oil and winter oil. So as we use up our stock of existing oil, expect to see it replaced by the new year-round oil.
