New Financials On-Line: Flying Rates May Go Up
The MANG Financials page now has the January Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet reports, as well as the year-end financial reports for 2010. If you want to find out how your Club is doing financially, take a look.
On thing that the summary report for 2010 shows is that your Club lost about $1200 for the year. The report also shows this was primarily due to a fall in the number of hours flown. When the planes fly more, the Club does better financially. But if current trends continue, treasurer Joe McEvoy recommends an increase of $5/hr in flying rates. But before we act on raising rates, take a look at the next item.
Is it money? Is it time? Is it that you have nowhere to go? Is it confidence? Is it the condition of the planes? Is it the weather? Whatever your reason, the MANG Board wants to know what it is. In order to avoid the $5/hr rate increase mentioned in the previous item, the Board wants to see if members have any ideas on how we can promote more flying. The more our planes fly, the more sustainable is our financial situation. Besides you will be a safer pilot and get more out of your Club.
So please think about the question and forward your comments to anyone on the Board. Also you can bring your ideas to our first General Membership Meeting of the year on March 21st at the Plymouth Library where the issue is sure to be discussed. Some of the ideas that have been offered so far are:
Offer financial incentives with volume discounts.
Organize MANG flying events where a group of us goes on an outing.
But don't be limited to just these ideas. Offer some ideas of your own. Start by asking yourself "Why don't I fly more" and then think of what it would take to give you a reason to fly more.
